i had purchased this product a month ago and i left a poor rating for item. something i NEVER, EVER thought would happen, happened. someone noticed! 30minutes after leaving feedback, a manager from the company called me to resolve the issue at hand!! my mouth dropped open! this is the very first time that i actually believed that someone cares! my experience may have been rocky in the beginning, but with this little phone call, the road smoothed out and i am definitly happy! this was the most wonderful way for this company to earn ALL of my computer business in the future. if they have the item i need, i will most definitly try and buy it from them. i will go as far as to say, i'd pay a little extra for something just b/c i know that they stand behind their product. Sela is the person that contacted me this morning and he said that he was the manager. WoW! i am stunned! thank you for your consideration in contacting an otherwise unhappy consumer. you have made a believer out of a non-believer!

This router will work with the Sierra AirCard 875 on the AT&T network.
It has a problem delivering full 3G speed however. I cannot get over
900Kb/sec even when parked 400 ft. from the tower. Plugged into the computer, I get 2.8Mb/sec speed, same location.
The problems people are having getting this router to work on an AirCard 875 is that they must set the router up *before* inserting the aircard.
The "APN" entries must be entered correctly for proper operation. Choose "Custom" for your entries. There are two entries that must be made correctly, one is "ISP.CINGULAR" if you were a Cingular customer, and the other is the logon username; "WEP@CINGULAR.COM." If these two settings are correct, save settings, unplug router, inset AirCard, re-power router and all will work correctly. The firmware revision number of the AirCard is of no consequence as I updated my firmware to the Australian 7.2Mb/sec version with no change in performance or connectivity problems. The 4 port switch section performs at 100Mb/sec just as advertised. This router can be configured as an internet backup. A person with DSL or cable can connect that signal to the "internet" port in back of the router and it will route that source. If the DSL or cable fails, it will automatically switch to the AirCard. This router auto-disconnects the AirCard in a 'non-use' time you select, and will auto-connect on demand. This takes care of AT&T's rule against maintaining an "always on" connection (forbidden).
"IMPORTANT" If you were using your AirCard 875 in a notebook/laptop computer... The last speed/network setting you used will remain in the AirCard! If you were using the "Edge" network and then plug AirCard into the router, it will only connect to the Edge network! Select 3G in your laptop before removing the card for use in the router! (if you have 3G available, otherwise , leave set to what works in your area).
I know I went on a bit here, but someone with an AirCard 875 may question purchasing this router if they don't know first that it WILL work, and how to make it work because right out of the box, it won't work. You must enter your provider particulars first!

Linksys has a good reputation for making quality products and this is no exception. I would buy it again.

Subject to customer authorization by Linksys. The Linksys Wireless-G Router for Mobile Broadband is really three devices in one box. First, there is the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect both screaming fast Wireless-G (802.11g at 54Mbps) and Wireless-B (802.11b at 11Mbps) devices to the network. Second, it is a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Connect four PCs directly or attach more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Thirdly, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a mobile broadband Internet connection (requires a mobile broadband data card). Alternatively, you can also connect a cable or DSL modem to the Ethernet port and access the Internet via your available broadband service.

I bought this to use with a Rogers Rocket stick and use it as an internet gateway for three computers and an iPod Touch. Works really well, with occasional connectivity drops that require a reset, maybe once a week. Not sure if it is better than the Rogers Wireless Hub and I shall probably give that a try once my contract expires with the Rocket Stick. I wish it had an extra USB hub to attach a hard drive.

I am writing this review just to inform people with Verizon wireless service, using the Verizon USB720 (Novatel U720) modem to be aware of possibly compatibility problems. The situation is pretty simple. When my modem is plugged directly into my laptop, it works almost 100% of the time. When I plug it into the KR1 router, it freezes up every few minutes. When this happens, there is no connection or IP address listed on the "status" page. This freezing occurs until I unplug the router or sometimes after 5 to 10 minutes it fixes itself. It is just not usable this way. Kyocera replaced the router under warranty and the problem is exactly the same. I did upgrade the firmware on both routers. This matter was escalated to D-Link support and they were unable to fix the problem. They are now looking into getting me a different model of router to resolve this. The U720 modem is new, so hopefully they will work the bugs out, but I wanted to make sure this information was available to other buyers. Both Kyocera and Verizon assured me the two units were compatible before I purchased them. I am now locked into a contract with Verizon without a working router and I wouldn't have done that if I'd known of this situation.

Great 3G router. Smallest high performance wireless router I have ever seen. It can be powered up by mini USB. It has three modes for router, access point, wireless access point. Wireless access point feature is really cool. Basically you can connect this hotspot to any wireless router via WiFi then either extend the wifi or plug a network device to it's ethernet port to turn it into wireless device. Price is unbelievable for all these functions.

D-Link DIR-450 3G Ev-do 4-Port Switch 802.11G 108MBPS Mobile Router Review

D-Link DIR-450 3G Ev-do 4-Port Switch 802.11G 108MBPS Mobile Router
Average Reviews:

I'm one week into EVDO service and still learning new things every day in that regard. One thing I learned is that you need to choose equipment that is reliable, consistent and durable. Sadly, the D-Link DIR-450 is none of these things.
I looked into the D-Link model as they are the actual vendor for the Kyocera KR-1. The KR-1 is a highly regarded consumer grade model in what is admittedly a pretty small field. For most consumers it appears that the KR-1 is the default suggestion for those looking for a router solution for the EVDO service.
I should have been wary of the D-Link even before purchase as it did not support all of the same cards that its older sibling supported, but the most recent (and only) firmware upgrade added support for my card so I figured I was set.
Everything went well the evening I installed it and I went to bed with visions of salvation from satellite internet while stranded in rural American. Imagine my surprise when I woke up and could not enter the admin page using the password I set up. Then I could not access the router at all. I had to go into the crash firmware reinstallation mode to resurrect the box - with ~12 hours of ownership - Strike One.
Strike 2 was the painfully ill designed UI that requires arbitrary rebooting between setup steps. The rebooting process takes around 80 seconds, so even entering a small set of DHCP reservations is a time consuming chore. Half an hour later I had all my static IPs entered but on the next reboot carried out by the UI all of the settings were reset to default...
Strike 3 was today when it would reset the subnet I had setup back to the default. Doing this ate my DHCP settings, but I thought I had outsmarted the demon box and backed up the config using their UI option. Oddly, the restore seemed to only affect the wireless and basic network settings and did not include the DHCP. I spent another 30 minutes entering the reservations when it both reset the password and on the following reboot reset the subnet again.
I have little doubt that D-Link will straighten this out, but am extremely surprised that they have a relatively new product in the field that is the mirror of a well established model *that they designed and support* and it is so flaky. In a rural setting, setting up EVDO can be challenging so having unreliable equipment is one extra headache you don't need. Wait for this product to mature slightly and check out other support boards to see how others are handling it in the field.

Cradlepoint MBR1000 Review

Cradlepoint MBR1000
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this unit about 14 months ago. It was purchased from [....]. I had decided to finally get my parents some sort of high speed internet because dial up just wasn't cutting it. They live in the woods about 5 miles from the I-5 freeway but DSL or Cable doesn't come down the road. It goes right by the end of it but not down it. So for Christmas of '08 I went to Sprint and purchased the Air Card, well the card was free just had to sign up for a 1 year contract. I asked them about a router for this and they told me to visit [...] and look at Cradlepoint. I found the MBR1000 and when I buy something I want to make sure it is the best. So I purchased it. Got it in about 4 days. Once I figure out where I was going to get the best signal for the air card it took me about 10 minutes to set up the router, air car, and my parents computers. I have had no trouble with it. I think the LOS (Line of Sight) is underestimated. I purchase a range booster for it as well and the neighbor said he could get 1-2 bars of signal (Router signal not modem) at his place. He is about 100yds from my parents house with a couple of trees in the way is all. We unplugged the range booster and the signal stayed the same. Turns out the Router itself was getting that range. He could sit out on his deck and use his laptop with 1meg download speeds. I would recommend this product to anyone. As a matter of fact a close friend of mine doesn't have high speed internet at her house and she wants to get the same thing that my parents have. I am going to recommend the MBR1000 especially since it has gone down in price since I purchased it. I was astounded by the range it can get. I did however have to purchase an antenna for the modem itself because it wasn't the best cell signal in that area but I went from 1-2 bars, 2nd bar flashing to 3 solid bars of signal with the external antenna mounted on the deck. DO NOT but directional range booster antennas because the cell companies will not tell you where the towers are so you can aim it. The margin of error in pointing one of those is too small to get it. I used a Trucker antenna from Wilson Electronics that works great. I hope someone finds this useful and makes a decision based on this review.

This replaces an older Netgear wireless router at my house. The setup was easy and worked the first try. It identified and connected to my Verizon usb727 mobile broadband card without problem. Now all my equipment has internet access.
Note that the included usb cable seems to be required for the broadband card to work. Plugging the card directly into the router powered the card, but the router reported that no usb device was plugged in.
